Random musings on a dreary day based on a lunch conversation between myself and two friends (an asian, an indian, and a caucasian). We're grad students at a pretty diverse college campus.Why is it that we usually see a caucasian guy dating an asian girl, and very very rarely vice versa? However, indian guys are usually seen with caucasian girls and very very rarely vice versa? Interesting isn't it? We've all encountered people we know who prefer dating asian girls, is it because they're truly into the culture, etc or is it something more superficial?
From an asian girl pov, tall asian guys are hard to find. Height is the first thing I notice in terms of physical appearance second to eyes. I wonder for those asian girls, do they only date caucasian guys? I wonder from a guy's pov, what the attraction is, why asians? C is one of those guys that like asian girls, at least this is what I've been told by the friend of a friend. And yes before anyone asks, C is tall, a little over 6 feet I think (I'm the shortie, barely an inch over 5), but still not my type.
For guys from India, my friend mentioned it could be the obsession with fair skin or rebellion from parents. And that's probably why girls from India are rarely seen with caucasian guys, families hold them to stricter "rules".
Contemplating the whys made for an interesting discussion...

Have y'all been watching Tyra Banks? ;) I've flipped past her show and saw an episode similar to this...I can't remember what the conclusion was because I'm not really a fan of Tyra.
I'm biracial (black & white) and dated an Asian. I don't know how we came up with that combo, but I was NEVER allowed to see his parents- thank goodness it was only casual!
Hey girl, digging your blog : ) I'm an asian girl and I mostly date non asian guys. The height thing is a factor but also from experience, the ones I've met have been so passive. I need someone to take some initiative. Also, having the same skin kinda weirds me out. I know this is kinda odd, but I feel like I'm naked with my brother.
i suppose height is only one of the factors. it all comes down to a person's taste in men. LOL. i find it difficult to find an asian guy who is taller than me. even if there's any, they're just not as interesting :P
My best friend is Asian and she is dating a Caucasian guy. She said Asian men have more of a temper. Both her parents were Asian and divorced and now her mom remarried to a Caucasian guy. But that is just what she has told me.
If you're interested, there's a relatively new article saying that actually it's becoming more common for asian people to date each other than people of other races.
I'm mixed (half-asian), and I'm open to dating an asian guy (i've been involved with indian guys before), but i just don't meet a lot of asian guys... but i mean, if adriel luis were to ask me out, i'd be all 'oh yeah...'
