In these dour economic times, my bargain shopping has saved me oodles even if my friends tend to groan and moan when during some shopping trips, I end up getting nothing. Sometimes even my mom (she's the one who passed on the bargain gene) eggs me to buy something and I'm the reluctant one because I think it's too pricy.
This past weekend I ended up getting some free, yes, you saw correctly, FREE, tops! I had coupons (like The Limited and Express) from one of the stores I go to and because they were having an awesome Memorial Day weekend sale, I got quite a few things basically for nothing! I "bought" tank tops (lacy ones that can be worn under a shirt, and one or two ruffly ones). And the best thing, they don't have the annoying shelf bra installed! I can't stand those because I would never go without a bra anyways (even though I can).
So for your entertainment...my shopping criteria:
- Head to the following sections in this order: 1) clearance 2) sale 3) regular price
- Refrain from buying anything in the regular priced sections but check them out for some prospective buys
- Check out the sale sections and if it's a good sale on something I really want, get it! If not, wait until it hits the clearance racks. If I hem and haw, I don't really WANT it!
- EXCEPTION to the above rules: SHOES!!! Because painful feet/toes is just NOT fun!
- If I have coupons, use them!
- I never limit myself to a monetary amount. Since I sometimes return home with nothing anyways.
Do you have any "special" shopping criteria? Do you like to window shop (Me Me Me!!!)? Do you bargain with yourself about buying something you really want?

It depends on my mood, I guess! Hahahaa. Singapore has an annual Great Singapore Sale in June, so shopping during April-May usually slows down for me. Everyone goes crazy here in June :D
I’m a bit of both a bargain shopper and an impulse buyer but I DEFINITELY head to the back of the store and stratight to the sale rack first! Haha! Good for you for sticking to it like duct tape!
The closest outlet to me is about 2 hours away..across the border and into the united states! Boooo!
You sound a LOT like me. The only things I will sometimes (ok, often) splurge on are books. Clothing wise, though, I'm really like you. The pair of nikes I had on my post a few weeks back are something I keep checking the price on because I want them so bad but I REFUSE to pay over 100 bucks for them!
I'm also a bargin shopper. I try to find the best deal out there... however that being said there are just some times when I am also an impulse buyer.
Nashe: Ooh, that sounds like fun! ;)
Kym: I do, I do, if not I feel guilty spending that much on clothes unless it's a dress/coat etc. Granted I have to get used to spending more once I start working.
Gidget: :D Great minds think alike! As I mentioned, shoes are the only thing that I will rethink about spending more on. I've had too many cheaper ones that cause too much pain and torture.
vazenchick: Very very rarely am I an impulse buyer. I research things to bits before spending a lot of money on something. :)
I am actually awful at bargain shops because I NEVER have any luck. All my friends do but not me. I window shop a lot but I really try not to buy things full price. I'm just awful with delayed gratification.
I am jealous that you got free tops! You should let us know if you find great deals. I am like you and always hunting for them!
Jessica: Lol, I actually don't really go to many bargain shops unless you count Marshalls and TJMaxx, I just do a ton of bargain shopping. ;) I love window shopping but usually have to be in a good mood to go serious shopping and attempt to hunt for things.
Trixie: :), I got the tops at the Limited. They send me coupons all the time (I have their credit card). I'll be sure to post any good sales that I go to in the future!
I'm a bargain shopper because I just hate spending money on stuff that I know I can get cheaper. Occasionally, I'll splurge and buy a new top or something, but for the most part, I love the sale racks! But lately, because I've been in Japan for 10 months and shopping is incredibly expensive over there, everything here in Hawaii seems sooo cheap! lol. But I usually just go to the cheap shops with $7-14 tops. :D
i sometimes don't like sales because it can get too clutter-y that i cannot pick one. but i dont shop on regular basis, only on impulse esp when i'm so stressed up (but still under control lol) unless im back home where the shops are much more organized during sale period (most of the shops anyway)
maitai: YAY! Another bargain shopper! I totally understand about "cheaper" tops, I love sales though because it usually means that those tops are higher quality.
girl in stiletto: Lol, that's my one complaint about TJMaxx and Marshall's, you really have to be in the shopping mood to dig through the mess of hangars, which I tend to hate. I usually shop in places that are a tad more organized though.
