SOLD!

I did it!

I sold the furniture that had to go before I move to my new temporary apartment! All in 1 day! YAY! I know it's a tad weird to be excited about it, but these were big pieces of furniture (full size futon, huge leather office chairs, etc).

I just didn't want to have to move them or have my parents have to bring them home, that's just a huge hassle.

On a related note, how many of you barter when you purchase something used? I know I would, but all the sales I've made today were without bartering. I mean, when I visit Chinatowns, etc, they expect you to barter for new items...which I will happily do!

Do people not barter in order to be polite? Is it because they think it won't work? Is it because they think the item's a steal and decide not to?

Anyway, I hope y'all have had good weekends so far!

Hey, just came across your blog! LOVE IT!

Bartering makes me a little uncomfy, even overseas where EVERYONE does it. My cheap ass hubby however tried to barter for our WEDDING BANDS!!! Hmmmm, how should I feel about that???

Great post!!

Yaay! Congrats! :D

Haha, I would only barter for a used item if I really wanted it and if the price seemed too high...other than that, naah. :P

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! I understand about bartering being uncomfortable. I'd only do it if it was in a Chinatown, etc. I wouldn't do it if it was a department store even though it is a good way to get good deals (at least the TV news says so). :P

@.maitai
:), yep I understand...I just assumed people would because these were bigger items like the wooden futon... Oh and if you get this message, I've been having problems with your RSS feed. None of your posts are showing up for me?

I've never tried bartering... Something about acquiring 2nd-hand items don't sit well with me!

That is sooo cool. You were able to sell it in one day? That must have been an awesome piece of furniture. =)

congrats on selling the furniture! Isn't it great when you get huge things out of the way?

I don't barter...and I know I'm supposed to when I go to antique stores and things...but I just don't like to. I figure, there's a price marked and who am I to refute it? I think bartering is also a cultural thing. Some places it's expected and others it's not.

@Jessica
Thanks! I so did not want to have to move that furniture...

@Nashe
Depends on the item and it also depends on how much said item costs new vs. used

@ChinkyGirlMel
Yes, I was so happy to get rid of everything! I actually posted an ad, people had been answering them but I was getting annoyed with the responses since I would respond and then never hear back!

@Blacktulip
Oh yes, definitely! Lol, true, true. I do not barter at department stores, if I was buying something second hand, I would probably depending on the original price and the condition.
